PRESIDENT'S REPORT FOR THE COUNCIL YEAR 2001/2002

On behalf of our council members, I am pleased to take this opportunity to deliver my President Report to you all during this Annual General Meeting.

In the past year, we have held 7 council meetings and the last one just took place on the 31st December of the year 2002. Our SLOBA is growing stronger and stronger with the total no. of members standing at 3,329. Our web page continues to serve as an efficient tool between the SLOBA and its old boys. We have also made several enhancements to the contents of our web site. We certainly will keep up with the momentum for further improvement to the web site.

Two home coming events were held during the past year, one in January and the other in October, each with a very good attendance record of over 220 participants. Also, our Annual Spring Dinner was not forgotten with nearly 90 people sharing the evening with us on 15th March 2002.

This year is the World Cup Final and we have also arranged a mini world cup gathering at St. Louis School on every Saturday from April to December. The school had been very supportive to this activity and the turn up rate proved to be very satisfactory all through the period mentioned.

In July, we have been invited to attend the F.5 Graduation Dinner of the School and have made a short presentation to the audiences about the SLOBA. Also, we are glad to let you all know that now our new school Principal, Father Peter Ng, is also one of our old boys. Joined hand in hand with our Spiritual advisor Rev. Father Lam, we believe the relationship between the School and SLOBA will be even more intimate. To give you an example, we were invited to take part in the Fund Raising Walkathon organized by the School on 17th November 2002.

Three old boys reunion dinners had received our sponsorship this year and they are the year of 1962, 1972 and 1977. Our council members also maintain close contacts with our overseas old boys organizations such as SLOBA (Canada) and SLOBA (Sydney).

Wing Lung Bank has so far issued 541 SLOBA credit cards to our old boys and we at here urge those who already have the cards to use the SLOBA card as your main card while for those who don't have, we'll be pleased to help by getting one for you.

As you may be aware that the School is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, the School will be publishing a 4 pages supplement in Sing Tai Daily on 17th January 2003 to let the public understand more about the school, the teachers, the students, the parents as well as the old boys. To show your support, we pledge you to buy the 17th January 2003 Sing Tao Daily and circulate it to people you know.

During my year of service, I am very grateful to Rev. Father Lam and all the fellow council members for their valuable contribution, both in terms of time and effort, to all the functions held during the past year. With their continuous support, I am able to fulfill my responsibility as the President of SLOBA. My best wishes to SLOBA for a more successful and prosperous 2003.
