PRESIDENT'S REPORT FOR THE COUNCIL YEAR

2005/2006

Our SLOBA just went through a fruitful year in 2005-06. New Council members, Mr. Poon Kwok Sum and Mr. John Cheng joined us as the Honorable Secretary and Director respectively. With the blessing of God, the first trial issue of our e-newsletter was released by the end of last year with a lot of hard work contributed by Mr. Poon Kwok Sum, our Chief Editor. To keep this newsletter going, we count on your active participation in sending in your articles continuously.

Two outings were organized, one in April and the other in October. The first one was a boat trip to Tung Ping Chau and Tap Mun. The second one was a coach tour to Inspiration Lake, Green Park and Lau Fou Shan. A total of around 260 people were attracted to these two events.

As usual, our SLOBA had also supported the reunion functions held by the 1965 and 1976 graduates.

Our interaction with the School continued this year. We had held five career talks for the classes of Form Five and Form Seven. We would like to thank our five speakers, Dr. K.C. Lam, Mr. Graham Chan, Mr. Josiah Tang, Mr. John Cheng and Mr. Sky Cheng for their time and effort in presenting these talks to our fellow students.

On behalf of SLOBA, I had attended the Annual Speech Day of the School in November and presented the respective awards to the outstanding students. Our Annual Homecoming had successfully drawn up about 200 people back to the School. Mr. Ng Kwok Hon and Mr. Patrick Pak and Mr. Simon Tam taught the old boys again in the special “Back To School” session.

It is a great pleasure to announce that our Fr. Simon Lam was named the new Provincial of the Salesians of Don Bos c o, China Province in October. Doubtless to say, Fr. Lam’s contribution to St. Louis as well as the Salesian family is fully respected and reflected.

Fr. Foster visited us in October and the Council members had a very cozy dinner gathering with him.

Throughout last year, we had held five council meetings and the total number of SLOBA members has grown to more than 4,000. We had issued a total number of 527 SLOBA credit cards.

To conclude, may I take this opportunity to thank our very supportive council members. Their contribution in terms of time and effort is deeply appreciated. Needless to say, the valuable advice and the generous encouragement from Rev. Fr. Simon Lam and Rev. Fr. Peter Ng is also acknowledged with our immense gratitude.

Eugene K.C. HA

President
