The Disposal of Fr. Bogadek’s Specimens

Dear Aloysians,

On May 22, 2016, the Provincial of the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Very Rev. Fr. Fedrigotti SDB issued an announcement regarding the errant disposal of the biological specimens that Fr. Bogadek has been collecting and keeping in the basement of the School Chapel building for a long time.  The specimens were somehow removed on May 2, 2016, for the space was needed to make room for future operations of Don BoscoSouth Asian Youth Services.

The loss would include some of the very rare reptile specimens, and other animal dissections kept in their various original forms. Over the years Fr. Bogadek and his students spent numerous hours trying to find the myths of life and display them with their findings.  The specimens would mean priceless display of their efforts.

We were all sad learning the news last week.  There is a team of old boys in different professions trying to figure out, with a small glimpse of hope that the “disposed” specimens could still be above ground and somehow they could be retrieved.  We may be asking for assistance or advice from anyone of you, if a slight chance could help retrieving the “disposed”.

However, objects on earth are so vulnerable to be vanished.  It does not matter how valuable it could be, or how important it would mean to anyone.  If it disappears, God will have a good place for it to be transformed.  More important is the way we would treat the objects while they are still at reach.  And this sad incidence would at least give us some hint to look around us, and to treasure what we embrace surrounding us.

If you may want to express your love towards Fr. Bogadek please do so, by sending him your care, share your feelings and your support to him and the School.

Sincerely,

John Po
